Position Summary


The Chief Human Resources Officer serves as a staff member at will of Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS). The Chief Human Resources Officer will provide professional human resource planning, objectives, and administrative services to the agency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Priority 1: Equity and Inclusion

Priority 2: Human Resources

  • Review, update, and administer the agency’s human resources policies and procedures and make recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Maintain knowledge and the agency’s compliance with federal, state, and local legislation pertaining to human resource-related matters.
  • Coordinate employee recruiting, including preparing job postings and advertisements, conducting candidate searches, assisting supervisors with interviews and selection of new employees, and assuring all necessary reference and criminal background checks are completed.
  • Assist in the annual renewal of benefit plans. Administer and manage the enrollment of employees in the benefit plans. Coordinate forms and information needed for payroll for employee benefit deductions.
  • Auditing monthly benefit insurance billings and making adjustments as needed in preparation for payment.
  • Assist in the annual review of the agency’s wages and salaries.
  • Coordinating supervisory and employee training and development programs.
  • Assist leadership staff with employee problem resolution and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Contact legal counsel as needed or at the direction of the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Conduct exit interviews and provide relevant information to the Chief Executive Officer and others on the leadership team.
  • Maintaining personnel records, reports, and files, including essential credentialing material for third-party payers, certifying bodies, and other funding sources; handles all external written and verbal employment verifications. Maintain documents and files for DVIS contract employees.
  • Coordinating with the Human Resource Committee of the Board, vendors, and consultants as needed related to human resources policies, programs, and services.
  • Schedule, and develop the agenda for the All-Staff meetings.
  • Ensuring that employees meet all necessary training requirements from the OAG, DMH, and other funders.
  • Responsible for receiving, follow-up, tracking, and sending critical incidents to the appropriate agencies/parties.
  • Receive grievances from clients and employees, ensuring there is timely follow-up and resolution.

Priority 3: Information Technology/Security

  • Oversees and assists with setting up employee access to facilities through an automated security system and issuing badges.
  • Oversees technology, onsite employees, and vendors.

Priority 4: Collaboration

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, Board of Directors, and vendors.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:


Other Duties/Responsibilities: Other assistance to support the overall goals of the department and organization. DVIS retains the right to add or change duties and/or responsibilities at any time.


Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises the IT system administrator and human resources assistant. Conducts job performance reviews annually for employees supervised.


Budgetary/Fiscal Responsibilities: Acts as a good steward of DVIS’s resources.


Responsibility for Confidentiality: The nature of this work requires safeguarding against the release of confidential and proprietary information of DVIS and its clients.


Contact with Others: This position will interact with managers at all levels and staff members across the organization, in addition to members of external organizations and the public.


Documentation: Maintains up-to-date and accurate files for each client according to agency guidelines and current professional standards.


Meetings and Training: Attend meetings and training as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

Education: Master’s degree in human relations, human resources management or in a related field preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.


Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years’ experience in human resources; a working knowledge of human resource management and administration principles and practices. experience working with a nonprofit and with [insert] are strongly preferred, or any equivalent combination of experience lived experience, and/or special skills.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS are necessary.


Knowledge of or experience working with social justice issues, specifically intimate partner and gender-based domestic and sexual violence, and racial, class, gender, sexual orientation issues, and intervention/prevention services strongly preferred. Requires dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work and tasks. Requires adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a f able to work [independently and] as part of a team. Must have good negotiation skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with diplomacy. Fast-paced, multi-task, and changing environment, with frequent pressure related to meeting deadlines and scheduling requirements.


Requires the ability to embrace, support, and integrate DVIS’s philosophies to promote and demonstrate DVIS’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and anti-racism.


Experience applying an equitable analysis to all duties to achieve organizational goals and demonstrate DVIS’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and anti-racism preferred.


Diplomacy in confronting personal, individual, and internal discrimination requiring sharing and discussing personal identities relative to the work environment is strongly preferred.


Requires sophisticated emotional intelligence and resiliency skills to lead and/or actively participate in advancing our work relative to racial, social, and economic justice.


Schedule Availability: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional extended workdays.


Licenses/Certifications: Valid Oklahoma driver’s license; SHRM and/or HRCI certifications are preferred.
