The Career Navigator facilitates access to services provided by Goodwill, strategic partners, and community resources to ensure participants’ career and personal growth leading to increased self-sufficiency. This position emphasizes creating individualized career and personal development plans that align with Goodwill's mission.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Actively promote Goodwill and community programs to create awareness and demonstrate the potential it has for career and personal advancement.
  • Assess participants’ backgrounds, education, and skills to help set realistic career and personal goals.
  • Assist individuals of diverse backgrounds while upholding professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Be fluent in local community resources and programs and provide constant referrals to programs that foster the continued growth. This includes educational and training opportunities both within Goodwill and within the community.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain personalized development plans for participants, including assessment, planning, implementation, and monitoring for self-sufficiency achievement, personal and career growth.
  • Educate participants in career decision-making, such as selecting career paths, professions, or educational opportunities.
  • Effectively develop a positive empowering relationship with all participants through coaching, motivating, and educating.
  • Guide participants through career and personal decision making, such as choosing a new profession, career paths within Goodwill, or advancement within the community.
  • Promote Goodwill programs to increase awareness of available career and personal development resources.
  • Timely document participants’ contact, activity, and progress through accurate case notes in electronic case (success) management systems.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain knowledge of local community, educational, and training resources and make regular referrals to support team members' continued development.
  • Must have demonstrated evidence of successfully working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and handle multiple tasks with effective prioritization
  • Multi-tasking several assignments at once and prioritizing effectively
  • Professionally and confidentially assist individuals with different types of lifestyles, genders, personal beliefs, and disabilities.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Goodwill considers this a safety-sensitive position with tasks or duties that could affect the employee's or others' safety and health.
  • Maintain appropriate requirements for legal vehicle operation including current automobile insurance and license plates.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must be eligible for a positive outcome on the required State of Oklahoma, and National, criminal background check.
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License with a good driving record.
  • Must maintain compliance with Goodwill’s Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy.

EDUCATIONAL and OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma with career coaching, counseling, or workforce development certification. Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, human resources, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience providing career coaching/counseling to diverse adult populations across the full career and personal development lifespan including career assessments, career exploration, career decision-making, resumes, personal branding, interview strategies, job search strategies, etc.
  • Experience working with under-served populations including but not limited to veterans, returning citizens, GED/non-high school graduates, persons with disabilities, and senior citizens.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and adaption to change.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Talking, hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, hand and finger dexterity, feeling, and seeing.
  • Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling: Light Work: Lifting 20 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job is included in this category when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree, or when it involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling or arm and/or leg controls.
