Job Summary:
The billing representative is responsible for carefully reviewing electronic patient medical records and translating the services rendered into current and standardized CPT and ICD-10 codes. The primary goal is to submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies for reimbursement, while ensuring compliance with OSU policies, healthcare regulations, and proper billing practices. Additional duties include managing denials and rejections, collaborating with providers and administrators, meeting departmental goals, and attending required training sessions.

Environmental Hazards:
Typical office environment.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 8-10 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Required:
- High School Diploma/GED
- One to two (1-2) years of medical billing background with 2 years of college or technical training. In lieu of college or technical training, will accept 3 or more years coding and billing experience in a primary care or specialty facility.
- CPC certification required
-Valid Driver's License

Skills, Proficiencies, Knowledge:
- Proficient in medical coding and billing, enhanced by typing and computer skills, including adeptness in 10-key entry.
- Exceptional organizational abilities are essential, with the capacity to manage several tasks simultaneously.
- Attention to detail is required to ensure a high degree of accuracy in all responsibilities.

Preferred:
- Two (2) years’ college or technical training preferred.
