Job Description

Step into the role of Associate Engineer - Substation Design within Olsson’s Power Delivery team and contribute to the transformation of energy systems. This developmental engineer-in-training (EIT) position involves assisting in the design and execution of substation projects that are crucial to the robustness and reliability of our power infrastructure. You will participate in all project phases, from initial planning and feasibility studies to design and construction administration. This role provides a unique opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills on a smaller scale initially, with the potential to take on greater responsibility as you gain experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Design Assistance: Provide small scale design elements for substation projects using fundamental knowledge and established methods.
  • Plan Production: Perform basic plan production tasks and receive specific instructions for necessary tasks.
  • Software Proficiency: Develop and apply your knowledge and skills in design and modeling software.
  • Documentation Preparation: Assist with the preparation of project documentation and schedules and perform design calculations within a limited scope.
  • Team Coordination: Coordinate with experienced engineers and designers on non-routine techniques and procedures.
  • Research and Reporting: Gather research, recommend solutions, and create drafts of technical reports using prescribed methods.
  • Mentorship: Mentor student interns by providing opportunities to develop basic technical skills and knowledge.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • A minimum of one year of engineering experience.
  • Must possess an Engineer Intern certificate (EI).
