Position Information Position Title Associate Director, Center for Career Development and Professional Engagement Job Description Responsible for collaborating with and supporting the Executive Director in providing comprehensive leadership and strategic vision for career development and professional mentorship across campus in support of goals articulated in the UTulsa strategic plan, as well as the university mission.

The Associate Director serves as the chief operations officer and provides guidance and structure for a range of services provided by this office. Functions include oversight of event scheduling, office management, career readiness curriculum, assessments, reporting outcomes, supporting employer services regarding outreach and community engagement, staff recruitment and retainment, and identifying training and professional development opportunities for CCDPE staff.

The Associate Director may also serve as a First Year Experience instructor, Staff support for Jump-Start, or other leadership/mentor/teaching roles deemed necessary by Utulsa and the Executive Director.

The ideal Associate Director candidate is an innovative leader with a strong background in teaching/mentoring clients (for this summary, a client is a prospective student, undergraduate student, graduate student, alums, employers, faculty, or staff) and in developing and maintaining community relationships. Successful candidates will develop strong working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, direct reports, and other stakeholders to ensure the success of all CCDPE clients.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director to establish, implement, and assess the strategic priorities of the Center and utilizes data and continuous improvement best practices to ensure that the Center’s activities and programs are achieving their intended goals.
  • Supports the individual colleges and the employment development coordinator in identifying and creating client opportunities.
  • Collaborates with the CCDPE Assistant Director of Data Analytics and Programming to report the:
    • First Destination Survey results to the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
    • Annual student learning outcomes report requested by the Higher Learning Commission
    • Career placement outcomes for each college, department, and major
  • Works closely with student success professionals across campus to ensure proper sequencing of Center programming and events and to incorporate insights from faculty, staff, and students into the Center’s activities.
  • Consults with Assistant Director to evaluate all CCDPE programming effectiveness, increasing client success and placement outcomes.
  • Supervises the Job Placement Guarantee manager and Career Counselors in duties related to the Job Placement Guarantee, including program and data management.
  • Updates CCDPE policies regarding recruitment, internships, and student/employer development as needed.
  • With staff, evaluates and maintains CCDPE’s subscription and technology platforms and resources, including but not limited to: Handshake, Canva, Focus 2, What Can I Do With This Major?, Grammarly, ChatGPT.
  • Assists Executive Director with CCDPE fiscal planning, fundraising and budget
  • Leads special projects as requested and performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skill/Ability

  • Excellent teaching/presentation/public speaking/event planning skills.
  • Ability to create documents using Canva, PowerPoint, Adobe, etc.
  • Ability to analyze data and modify curriculum and teaching strategies based on results.
  • Ability to use AI in ethical and creative ways to enhance programming.

Equivalent Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Must have three years of Higher ed or secondary experience teaching, coaching, and counseling; 5 years of experience preferred; or 10+ years of industry-related experience.
  • Must have GCDF (Global Career Development Facilitator) certification or obtain certification within six months of hiring.
