Position Information Position Title Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering Job Description The College of Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level with expertise in the areas associated with Resilient Infrastructure, Power System Optimization and Planning, and Transportation Electrification. We are particularly interested in researchers with demonstrated capacity in the application of AI/ML to grid simulation and advanced distributed power. The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is in the College of Engineering & Computer Science (ECS) and this search is part of the University of Tulsa (TU) investment and expansion in several strategic research areas to support the ambitious goal of becoming both R1 and a top 75 institution. To support this growth initiative, the College of Engineering & Computer Science at the University of Tulsa will significantly increase its faculty in the next 5 years and seeks inspired faculty to join us in this mission.

The University of Tulsa (TU) is located in Tulsa, with a population of over 1,000,000 in the metro area. With over $1.4 billion in endowment, The University of Tulsa is a private university with approximately 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students in the Colleges of Engineering & Computer Science, Arts & Sciences, Business, Health & Natural Sciences, and Law. TU is one of the top 100 private U.S. research institutions and Oklahoma’s highest-ranked private university. The College of Engineering & Computer Science has a strong national, international, and global reputation for Energy and Cyber Security with long-standing scholarship for service programs supported by the NSF and the NSA. TU also boasts large-scale research facilities home to numerous Industry/University partnerships and consortia for over 50 years. The College is home to 53 tenured or tenure-track faculty and 22 research or teaching faculty who support the research, teaching, and service mission. The college has 6 Ph.D. programs that produce excellent scientists and engineers for placement as professors and researchers at universities, industries in Oklahoma, the nation, and the world, and at national labs.

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Tulsa was founded in 1969, receiving ABET accreditation in 1971. It offers B.S., M.S., and Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.) degrees in electrical engineering, and a B.S. in Computer Engineering. The ECE Department jointly with the Tandy School of Computer Science offers M.S., M.S.E, and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Engineering. The Department is committed to expanding its research and academic strengths in the areas of Internet-of-Things, cyber physical systems, autonomous systems, cyber security, RF/optical communication, and power. The Department has a strong connection with community partners, including meaningful relationships with local industry.

Required Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate will be an experienced faculty member or researcher with an accomplished record of scholarship and dedication to excellence in teaching and research. Candidates with relevant non-academic experience are encouraged to apply. The candidate will have the following qualifications:
    • Earned Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field and a record of teaching, research, and scholarly accomplishments commensurate with the rank of associate or full professor.
    • Evidence of participation in a research program with the potential to create high-impact research that attracts sustainable levels of external funding and creates opportunities to mentor Ph.D. students.
    • Evidence of a commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including an ability to teach courses in the Department’s degree programs.
    • Evidence of an on-going interest in interdisciplinary approaches to scholarship and teaching.
