Job Description

The Alternative Investments Analyst III is responsible for all phases of product management and use of alternative asset classes as well as coordinating and leading the development and implementation of one or more asset classes. The scope of the products includes hedge funds, private equity, private real estate, and other non-listed securities. Extensively involved in the sourcing, due diligence, investigation, review, and oversight for alternative investments. Makes recommendations on the approval of investments and their applicability to individual client portfolios. Serves as an important liaison to the portfolio management group for their use of alternative products. Makes presentations to sophisticated High Net Worth clients on Alternative Investments.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • You will monitor, measure, and report on hedge fund investments' performance.
  • You will investigate new hedge funds and alternative investments, preparing recommendations for approval.
  • You will negotiate terms with external alternative investment managers and consultants and communicate performance issues.
  • You will advise portfolio management personnel on presenting alternative investments to clients.
  • You will present tailored recommendations on alternative investment products to clients and bank personnel.
  • You will participate in strategic planning and asset allocation decisions for alternative investments.

Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in business and 15+ years of experience in the alternative investment area or a master’s degree in business and 8+ years of related work experience. A CAIA Charter is strongly desired for this position and a CFA is desired for this position.

SKILLS:

  • Expert knowledge of various alternative investment products as well as general asset allocation, investment, and securities issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to relate to both technical and non-technical contacts at all levels.
  • Excellent PC skills including experience with Windows operating system, Excel, and the ability to utilize and learn other Alternative Asset related software.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistics and mathematics.
  • Advanced knowledge of relational databases, database administration, and development tools.
  • Expert knowledge of investment related concepts.
  • Ability to handle complex tasks, good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
