Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a passionate, purpose driven, systems thinker with a deep understanding of Communication, Affordable Housing and Equity to fill the role of Advancing Black Homeownership (ABH) Exhibit Specialist within the organization’s Housing and Community Strategy (HCS) team. The HCS team works with Habitat for Humanity local offices across the United States primarily through thought partnership, capacity building and investments in strategic programs. The team’s efforts are grounded in social justice principles and focused on equitable outcomes. The HCS team focuses on identifying, investing in and scaling innovative approaches to affordable housing, economic mobility and neighborhood development.
The ABH Exhibit Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert on racial disparities and injustice in the United States, including past and current discriminatory policies and practices, historic disinvestment, wealth extraction, and solutions that drive toward more equitable and just wealth building for Black individuals and households. This person will be responsible for promoting and supporting the ABH Exhibit, which is a physical display, as well as an accompanying website, that covers historic events and personal stories of people impacted by housing discrimination. Supporting this exhibit includes developing an outreach and engagement strategy, networking, and marketing the exhibit to industry partners while also promoting the exhibit’s tour through social media and other external outlets, as well as planning where the exhibit will be hosted. Additionally, this person will support the team that manages the logistics and events, which involves traveling throughout the US and providing hands on support on site and as well logistical support in general.
This 1-year opportunity is 100% remote within the U.S.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop outreach and engagement strategy to support the promotion of the exhibit at external events, conferences and to industry partners. Includes relationship building and networking. (30%)
• Create and implement promotional strategy to showcase the exhibit tour via social media and other external outlets (30%)
• Partner with consultants to create promotional materials to adequately market the exhibit. (10%)
• Support exhibit team with event logistics, at times including attending events and supporting staff with assembly and tear down. (10%)
• Collaborate on content refreshes on a semi-annual basis; maintain a list of errors within the Exhibit or website for correction; gather and form recommendations on additional historic events, stories, or quotes to include in the Exhibit from individual’s interactions or feedback. (10%)
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor. (10%)
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in African American or Black Studies, History, Political Science, Sociology, Communications, Marketing or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience.
Requirements:
• Fast learner and motivated self-starter.
• Ability to work independently, be resourceful, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Outstanding people skills.
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of and commitment to racial justice, other forms of equity, and systems level transformation.
• Social media, digital engagement or content creation/management experience
• Marketing or promotion management experience
• Knowledge of MS software, internet & basic office equipment.
Preferred Requirements (in addition to minimum):
• Experience creating and implementing a promotional strategy for a new product or body of work
• Experience managing an annual schedule with multiple conferences or events, including oversight of logistics.
• Experience with Habitat for Humanity or other federated or nonprofit background.
• Affordable housing background.
• Ability to think creatively and design engaging and powerful content.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $22.44 per hour to $26.39 per hour.
Staff hired on a hybrid basis in the United States near an HFHI office location (Atlanta, Georgia / Washington, DC and Americus, GA), are required to report to the office on Tuesdays.
