Position Information Position Title Advancement Research Assistant Job Description The Advancement Research Assistant reports to the Director of Research, Campaign and Development, University Advancement and Alumni Engagement (UAAE) and assists in various research projects under the supervision of the senior researcher. This role supports the strategic prospect research function to facilitate the advancement work of UAAE fundraising staff in alignment with the fundraising goals established in any comprehensive fundraising campaign and all UAAE objectives, which are aligned with TU’s strategic plan.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities): With general guidance, support the UAAE Research Department through:

  • Creating and/or updating individual / corporate / and foundation prospect briefings for gift officers and executive staff
  • Creating and/or updating briefings for internal constituencies (such as Advisory Boards/ Board of Trustees / Trustee Emeriti / Athletic Suites / etc.)
  • On a project basis, when needed – based on provided parameters – utilize RE, and a variety of available research tools, to perform initial prospect research – in the following areas including, but not limited to:
    • Fundraising initiatives for programs related to the colleges of: Engineering, Arts and Science, Oxley College of Health Sciences, Law, Collins College of Business, and Honors
    • Athletics
    • Affinities (such as Greek Life, Veteran’s initiatives, DEI programs)
    • Gilcrease Museum
  • Regional and national travel for gift officer travel
  • Fundraising initiatives related to events, such as Women’s Leadership Conference, Homecoming events, Lectures, etc.
  • Private and corporate foundations grant funding opportunities that align with university initiatives and programs
  • Update constituent RE records, when necessary, with current contact information, LinkedIn profile, photo; additional family members, veteran status (if applicable), etc.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure accuracy and integrity of constituent data through thorough periodic checks
    • Send updates to data management – as needed – to update constituents’ professional and additional educational affiliations, and relationships
  • Fulfill ad-hoc information requests such as locating constituent addresses, phone numbers, emails, workplace info, board relationships, etc.
  • Provide general light admin support to the Research team as needed

Required Qualifications Equivalent Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ Years of experience in research, data analysis, and writing/project work
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
  • Excellent research and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to evaluate large amounts of information, extract the meaningful substance, and express it succinctly and clearly
  • Ability to analyze constituent data and summarize results
  • High attention to detail, demonstrated practice of establishing effective priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Flexibility – ability to work on deadlines and pivot to a different project based on urgency
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
  • Proficiency with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge
  • Ability to learn and work with a variety of software applications related to project work such as iWave, Lexis, Foundation Search and Altrata suite of products
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative / be a self-starter.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality standards of the department and the University
Preferred Qualifications

Physical Demands · Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. · Must be able to lift at least 15lbs routinely. · Must be able to navigate an office setting.
