EMSA, the Emergency Medical Services Authority, is Oklahoma's largest provider of pre-hospital emergency medical care, established in 1977. It operates as a not-for-profit public trust authority, providing ambulance services to over 1.1 million residents across central and northeast Oklahoma. EMSA is recognized for its high-quality clinical care, operational efficiency, and fiscal integrity, managing all aspects of patient transport from the initial 9-1-1 call to billing. The organization is funded primarily through commercial insurance and federal reimbursement programs, ensuring minimal out-of-pocket costs for patients. EMSA's innovative EMSAcare program allows residents to pay a small monthly fee for waived emergency transport costs, further enhancing its service delivery and community support.
