About us

ConsumerAffairs is a software-powered marketplace for life's hardest purchases. The company was founded in 1998 by Jim Hood, a veteran Washington, D.C. journalist and public affairs executive. It is headquartered in Stateline, NV with offices in Tulsa, Austin and Buenos Aires. ConsumerAffairs provides consumer news, recall information, and verified consumer reviews. The organization gathers reviews from its consumer audience of around 7 million monthly users and shares them for consumers. ConsumerAffairs regularly covers and breaks news stories on issues that matter the most to its users and affect their everyday life. In 2011, ConsumerAffairs launched a SaaS platform and membership program, ConsumerAffairs for Brands, to assist brands with customer engagement and build trust with consumers through transparency. There is no charge for brands to respond to customers if they already have a profile on ConsumerAffairs, but the program does charge a monthly fee for the additional services provided to partner brands. In 2016, ConsumerAffairs launched its consumer marketplace which connects consumers researching life's hardest purchases directly with Brands.
