They accomplish this by working closely with other engineers, product managers, designers and data scientists. Staff Software Engineer sits within the Engineering department and reports to a Senior Director, Engineering. Success in this role is demonstrated by a consistent ability to reduce the complexity of projects, leadership of broad architectural work that unlocks new capabilities for the business, and a skill for coming up with improvements that increase the overall productivity of the engineering team. Your Impact: <ul> <li> Provide technical leadership of web development across Scrum teams to improve product quality and development velocity. (20%)<ul> <li>Stay up to date with industry frontend best practices and identify new capabilities that can be unlocked by emergent technologies or techniques.</li> <li>Continuously improve frontend architecture to build a scalable, reliable and performant web frontend</li> <li>Lead a guild of web developers to establish, prove, and enhance front end development patterns, standards, tools, and reusable components. </li> <li>Establish a culture and practice of building flexible and reusable web components.</li> <li>Mentor and educate teams on established standards and best practices.</li> </ul> </li> <li> Provide technical leadership for the Care Manager Experience full-stack web development team. (80%)<ul> <li> Translate user stories into software solutions<ul> <li>Work closely with product managers and scrum masters to understand the business problems and help in scoping the user stories.</li> <li>Collaborate with designers to ensure we deliver an optimal and accessible user experience.</li> <li>Collaborate with engineering managers and technical program managers to provide good project estimates for on time delivery of projects</li> <li>Validate technical design with other engineers.</li> <li>Maintain a high standard for code quality for yourself and others on the team, including automated tests</li> <li>Lead projects end to end which include technical design, development, testing and on time delivery of projects and improvements with highest quality.</li> </ul> </li> <li> Debug and fix our most challenging production issues<ul> <li>Participate in on-call rotations to ensure our systems have exemplary uptime and reliability.</li> <li>Work with our customer support team to triage, diagnose, and resolve bugs affecting our users.</li> <li>Serve as the point person for any customer escalation bugs for their team</li> </ul> </li> <li> Identify and lead process and technology improvements<ul> <li>Identify process, tooling and feature improvements to improve product quality and engineering productivity.</li> <li>Develop a 6-12 month roadmap for implementing technical and process improvements.</li> </ul> </li> <li> Mentor Software Engineers<ul><li>Work closely with software engineers and interns to guide their technical and career growth.</li></ul> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> <ul><li><ul></ul></li></ul> What You Bring: <ul> <li>S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field of study.</li> <li>Advanced working knowledge of Javascript and Typescript</li> <li>Expert in ReactJS and experienced with other JavaScript frameworks.</li> <li>Significant experience building and optimizing reusable web component libraries</li> <li>At least 6 years full-stack web development experience.</li> <li>At least 6 years experience building SaaS or cloud-based commercial software products.</li> <li>Experience with backend frameworks such as Spring or Ruby on Rails with a microservices architecture is preferred.</li> <li>Proficient with a modern scripting language such as Python.</li> <li>Makes good trade-offs for core design and API decisions.</li> <li>Excellent communicator, comfortable explaining technical problems and plans in person and in writing to both a technical and a non technical audience.</li> <li>Values the difference between good code and correct code, and cares about effective testing.</li> <li>Demonstrable history of technical mentorship.</li> <li>Experience leading complex initiatives from technical design to delivery.</li> <li>Thrives on diverse technical challenges — our system integrates a wide variety of healthcare and other technologies.</li> <li>Passionate about leveraging their technical skills to help improve patient care.</li> <li>Works effectively in a fast-paced, agile startup environment, and finds fulfillment delivering innovative solutions.</li> <li>Effective communication skills</li> <li>Accepts feedback graciously</li> <li>Strives not to commit the same mistake twice</li> <li>Stays up-to-date on industry best practices and new technologies</li> </ul> HealthEdge commits to building an environment and culture that supports the diverse representation of our teams.
