Knowledge of light and heavy duty construction, and maintenance equipment, and apparatus; of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines; of construction and maintenance of golf course, tee boxes, fairways and greens; of seeding maintenance of different types of turf; of drainage control, watering, and irrigation systems; of departmental policies and procedures; and of supervisory principles and practices. Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance needs; to organize and present facts and opinions clearly; to deal tactfully with others; to plan, organize and control the work of others; to maintain physical stamina necessary to perform heavy manual labor; and to understand chemical labels and instructions. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees 10 employees in the Golf Course department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
