SUMMARY Habitat for Humanity International is in search of a talented Development Officer, Planned Giving. Reporting to the Director, Planned Giving, the Development Officer, Planned Giving (PGDO) is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding planned gift prospects through a qualified portfolio within a geographic territory, responding to planned giving inquiries, and working collaboratively with special and major gift colleagues as well as local Habitat offices. This position can be based remotely in the US and requires 35-45% travel. CRITICAL OBJECTIVES:<ul> <li>Establish a strategic and systematic focus on closing both current and legacy commitments from qualified individuals.</li> <li>Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward qualified prospects and donors, managing a portfolio of approximately 200+ qualified relationships in a defined territory as well as leads acquired by planned giving marketing vendor.</li> <li>Respond to donor inquiries to the PG phone lines and email box.</li> <li>Where required, assist major gift colleagues with questions on planned gifts and assist in closing planned gift opportunities.</li> <li>Conduct and/or coordinate face-to-face visits, and other activities with donors.</li> <li>Meet or exceed team’s multi-million-dollar annual revenue goals</li> </ul> ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic Planning and Development (30%):<ul> <li>Establish a strategic and systematic focus on closing current and legacy commitments from individuals.</li> <li>Work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contacts with potential donors in portfolio, acquired by marketing vendor, or who call/write to the PG phone line.</li> <li>Routinely engage donors in portfolio, acquired by marketing vendor or who call/write to the PG phone line for face-to-face meetings, donor engagement and affiliate introductions. Work with affiliates to collaborate and review donor lists.</li> </ul> Plan activation, solicitations, and reporting (70%):<ul> <li>Demonstrate a keen sense of curiosity for donor motivation; able to personally adapt as needed to meet the needs of donors and effectively articulate the Habitat story.</li> <li>Develop strategy for planned gift prospects and carry out strategies for solicitation of these prospects.</li> <li>Guide the development of compelling proposals, presentations, and reports. Provide accurate and timely activity and pipeline reports and revenue forecasts.</li> </ul> MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:<ul> <li>Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.</li> <li>5+ years of related experience and demonstrated record in fundraising and planned giving.</li> <li>Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising in an environment of similar complexity.</li> <li>Experience in a multi-national federated organization with the ability to thrive a plus.</li> <li>Successful experience closing six-figure+ planned gift commitments and life-income gifts.</li> <li>An individual of unquestionable integrity whose professional and personal conduct reflects HFH’s values</li> <li>Innovative, creative, strategic, and analytical thinker.</li> <li>Ability to engage senior managers in donor visits, and to earn and maintain their confidence.</li> <li>Superior presentation skills, including the presence to deal effectively with diverse constituencies including principal donors, national staff, and leadership in the field.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and to listen, and the capacity to engage, inspire and persuade.</li> <li>Passion for and commitment to the HFH mission.
