Services include adult education with a family literacy and workforce focus including English language and citizenship classes; case management services with a focus on employment; youth education; interpretation and translation services; and high-quality, low-cost immigration legal services with a focus on family reunification, adjustment of status, citizenship, and related legal services needed by refugees. Services are provided by a multicultural and multilingual staff with first-language proficiency in Arabic, Burmese, Dari, Farsi, Korean, Pashto, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, Urdu, and Zomi. Position Description: The Interpretation and Translation Program Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Director of Interpretation and Translation Services to advance YWCA's language access and equity initiatives. Key responsibilities include coordinating interpretation and translation services, overseeing contractors, expanding the clientele for YWCA's language services, conducting community interpretation training programs, and offering training and advocacy on language access and equity within the community. This role is integral to fostering effective communication and promoting inclusivity across diverse linguistic backgrounds. Principal Responsibilities and Duties Interpretation and Translation Services <ul><li> Provide day-to-day management of interpretation and translation requests and cancellations with the</li></ul> support of the Supervisor to ensure requests are correctly and timely processed and completed. <ul><li> Assist in processing documents and contracts for the recruitment of contract interpreters and</li></ul> translators and ensure timely renewal of existing contracts. <ul><li> Assist in processing contracts and answering questions for new customers (clients/vendors) and</li></ul> timely renew existing contracts. <ul><li> Train contractors, staff, and customers in the use of the Online request system and troubleshoot </li></ul> problems. <ul><li> Support the Director in ensuring timely payment of contract interpreters and translators and timely</li></ul> receipt of payments from customers. <ul> <li> Estimate and negotiate rates of translation projects with customers as needed.</li> <li> Check in and update the Director on new clients, unusual requests, challenges with interpreters, and</li> </ul> other items as they arise. <ul> <li> Directly provide interpretation, translation, and proofreading services.</li> <li> Attend training and professional development opportunities to continuously improve skills and bring</li> </ul> information back to train staff and the community. <ul> <li> Provide technical support to interpreters, translators, and clients for assignments as needed.</li> <li> Follow YWCA interpretation and translation policy and procedures </li> <li>Interpretation Training </li> <li>Attend the Community Interpreter Train the Trainer Program if not a certified trainer.</li> <li>Co-teach the 40-hour interpreter training program (at least two cohorts a year).</li> <li>Coordinate language proficiency tests for students.</li> <li>Work with partners to identify volunteer opportunities for practical training for participants.</li> <li>Language Advocacy and Other Duties </li> <li>Work with the Director to provide training and support to area organizations and businesses on laws, </li> <li>regulations, and best practices on language access and support for clients. </li> <li>Order supplies and materials. </li> <li>Follow processes and coordinate with the marketing team to promote interpretation services, training, and other events </li> <li>Coordinate logistics for events such as training and graduation ceremonies. </li> </ul> Requirements Required Qualifications &amp; Skills: <ul> <li> Fluency: must have native-level proficiency in a minimum of two languages.</li> <li> Certification in a nationally recognized 40-hour interpretation program or its equivalent. </li> <li> National interpretation certification preferred. </li> <li> Excellent customer service skills. </li> <li> Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
