You and your team will need to deliver the following activities to the highest standards of client service with impeccable levels of accuracy: <ul> <li>Configuration of payroll wage codes for the accurate application of employer and employee taxes and social security</li> <li>Analysis of payroll tax notices</li> <li>Preparation of Powers of Attorney</li> <li>Liaison with Federal and State Agencies</li> <li>Registration of employers for payroll taxes</li> <li>Preparation and filing of payroll tax returns</li> <li>Preparation of Forms W-2, Forms 1099 and state equivalents</li> <li>Perform regular audits to identify and resolve compliance issues, avoiding delays in filings and monitoring penalties/notices</li> <li>Work in partnership with clients to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll tax liabilities</li> <li>Reconcile federal and state withholding taxes and unemployment taxes monthly, quarterly, and annually</li> <li>Apply for identification numbers, such as FEIN and SUI, when entering new jurisdictions</li> <li>Evaluate and improve payroll tax processes for higher efficiency and accuracy</li> <li>Identify opportunities for automation and lead implementation efforts related to payroll taxes</li> <li>Coordinate year-end efforts to ensure accurate W-2s and other annual tax filings</li> <li>Ensure proper setup and maintenance of local withholding codes for employers and employees in the Deloitte payroll tax system</li> <li>Good knowledge on Tax State/SUI agency portals</li> <li>Perform quarterly reconciliation and data analysis</li> <li>Reconcile payroll taxes at the employee level</li> <li>Tax Adjustment &amp; Amendment knowledge</li> <li>Play a lead role in Year-End processing for accurate W-2</li> <li>Communicate directly with internal/external customers regarding tax inquiries</li> <li>Research and resolve payroll tax inquires</li> <li>Ensure tax related updates in the payroll system are fully reviewed and understood</li> <li>Perform internal audits as requested</li> <li>Identify and resolve issues as well as drive change for related improvements</li> <li>Setting up the required operating protocols for the service offering</li> </ul> Qualifications Required: <ul><li>Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 – 3 days per week</li></ul> <ul> <li>5 + years of experience in payroll tax processing, preferably in a multi-state US environment</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree in economics, human resources, international business, finance, accounting, or other liberal arts majors</li> </ul> <ul> <li>One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:</li> <ul> <li>Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA</li> <li>If not CPA eligible:</li> <ul> <li>Enrolled Agent</li> <li>Juris Doctor (JD)</li> </ul> </ul> <li>Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve</li> </ul> Preferred <ul> <li>Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paycom) and Microsoft Excel</li> <li>An aptitude for working as part of dynamic team with diverse members</li> <li>Ability to prioritize tasks, work and manage multiple assignments in a team environment</li> <li>Strong analytical, consultative, quantitative, and project management skills</li> <li>Executive presence, and excellent communication (verbal &amp; written) and presentation skills with an aptitude for working as part of a global team</li> <li>Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail</li> <li>Ability to handle confidential information with discretion</li> <li>Attention to detail, self-starter and deadline oriented</li> </ul> The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $98,350 to $223,990. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
