The Role The Data base administrator (DBA) is responsible for developing, testing, improving, and maintaining new and existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively. The DBA will work closely with developers to ensure system consistency and will also collaborate with administrators and clients to provide technical support and understand new data requirements. Communication and organization skills are keys for this position, along with a problem-solving attitude. The position is based in Tulsa, Ok, USA and reports to the Head of Card Engineering. Duties and Responsibilities <ul> <li>Design stable, reliable and effective database systems of high availability and quality to store and retrieve company information.</li> <li> Understand new data requirements and relationships; modify databases according to requests and perform tests.</li> <li>Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting and integrating new elements.</li> <li>Monitor database performance, implement changes, apply new patches and versions when required.</li> <li>Liaise with developers as needed to improve applications and establish best practices; ensure database programs meet company and performance requirements.</li> <li>Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards.</li> <li>Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions.</li> <li>Define security and backup/recovery procedures.</li> <li>Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity.</li> <li>Optimize new and legacy database systems; solve database usage issues and malfunctions; minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses.</li> </ul> <ul> <li> Assure compliance with GTP BU and Payment Card Industry policies, procedures, standards, and regulations.</li> <li> Remain current on technical and professional developments affecting area of responsibility.</li> <li> Perform other related duties as assigned.</li> </ul> Qualifications <ul> <li> S. degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field and eight plus years of solid experience as an application Data Base Administrator.</li> <li> Proficient knowledge of Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, and RAC.</li> <li> Proficient knowledge of database and application performance tuning techniques.</li> <li> Knowledge and experience with the Oracle Database Appliance a plus.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>In-depth understanding of database structure principles and data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security and monitoring).</li> <li>Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements; knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques.</li> <li>Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and integrity.</li> </ul> <ul> <li> Excellent analytical and organization skills, problem-solving skills, ability to think algorithmically, self-starter.</li> <li> Excellent customer service attitude, good communications skills (both verbal and written), good project management and organizational skills and the ability to cope with and manage a constantly changing environment.</li> </ul> Working Conditions Job requires sitting most of the time working on a computer. Normal working hours have some flexibility but typically revolve around a normal Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm work week in the US Central time zone. Work hours may require evening or weekend hours under special conditions. This position does require infrequent hours beyond the typical schedule to accommodate maintenance windows, project deadlines, or incidents. This position participates in 2 week-long rotating on-call shift rotating between 3 DBAs. On-call duty includes responding 24/7 to any DB alerts and responding to the alert.
