**Location: Tulsa, OK.  This is an onsite position for those already in Tulsa, OK or willing to relocate to Tulsa, OK**

Community Engagement Specialist 

Tulsa Responds is seeking a Community Engagement Specialist for an exciting opportunity to make vital services accessible to Tulsa families with young children. This position will develop and execute outreach programming for families reflecting the diversity of Tulsa. The specialist will collaborate with a network of nonprofit and public agency partners coming together so that all children living in poverty can access the opportunities and resources needed to thrive.

This role will serve as a liaison between Tulsa Responds and the GKFF Best LLC (Birth through Eight Strategy for Tulsa) partners, ensuring that Tulsa Responds services are readily available to families with young children and expecting parents county-wide. The Community Engagement Specialist will forge new strategic partnerships, provide relevant education, and arrange in-person enrollment opportunities. The role will encourage mutual referrals between Tulsa Responds and GKFF BEST LLC partner organizations through informational sessions and written communication.

Success in this role looks like this:

  • Being an ambassador for Tulsa Responds and GKFF BEST LLC in all external meetings and committees.
  • Developing relationships with partner agencies that serve newly eligible populations and a strategic plan to expand outreach services to key demographics identified by key stakeholders.
  • Coordinating and producing a warm handoff and referral among partner agencies that assist with benefits enrollment. Continue to refine these processes as opportunities and challenges emerge.
  • Implementing and executing a strategic plan with the help of Tusla Responds Navigators (Soonercare, SNAP, VITA, ACP, etc.)
  • Collaborating with Project Team Leads in sharing staff members, resources, and best practices.
  • Attending community events to increase awareness of expanded access to services offered by Tulsa Responds.
  • Enrolling newly eligible individuals in all available services through door-to-door canvassing, partner events, intake forms from websites, referral platforms, and phone calls
  • Facilitating translation assistance to distinct communities, including Spanish and Burmese populations.
  • Managing all incoming and external referrals through the Unite Us platform.
  • Organizing monthly Tulsa Responds outreach opportunities for BEST partner agencies.
  • Delivering prompt database management with client tracking data, referrals, follow-up, and other reports as assigned, including monthly logs and client contact forms
  • Performing other duties as assigned

 

Required Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates or bachelor's degree preferred - human services or related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience (at least one year) with recruiting and engaging with clients in a community agency or public setting and/or customer service experience.
  • Bilingual in English/ Spanish or English/Zomi/Burmese preferred
  • Skills in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing; public speaking and in understanding and carrying out instructions.
  • Experience collaborating on initiatives and projects with a team

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
  • Demonstrate excellent time management/organizational skills and sound judgment
  • Ability to build relationships and create alignment with internal staff and external client/partners ranging from a wide range of perspectives.
  • Act as liaison between partner agencies and technical vendor solutions/software to resolve issues and identify opportunities
  • Experience with analyzing workflows and processes to recommend improvement
  • Ability to effectively break down complex information and theories in a manner that is clear and concise
  • Ability to work within specific time restrictions
  • Ability to project plan, track tasks, assess progress, and follow through on the execution of plans, including strong attention to detail
  • Desire to grow professionally and seek out new opportunities to learn
