Background

Our organization dedicated to providing an equal opportunity for young children in Tulsa through investments in early childhood education, community health, social services and civic enhancement. We are currently seeking a mission-driven and experienced Director of Shared Leadership.

Nationally distinctive in its size, scope, and depth of partner engagement, our organization takes a comprehensive and integrated approach that knits together programs and services to create a seamless continuum of support for children and families. We are a network of more than 80 public and non-profit agencies that are delivering health, education, criminal justice and social services to children and families in Tulsa. Our team collaborates closely with fellow team members and partners to advance goals with financial resources, coordination and convening.

Role Overview

Shared leadership is critical to our approach, structures and enduring impact. The Director of Shared Leadership drives efforts to ensure our organization moves forward with decisions and input from all groups integral to its success. In addition to managing ongoing discussions with the our leadership Team, this person leads the Advisory Committee, supports the Managing Director in sharing lessons learned with other communities, and manages supports available to all partners as well as community engagement initiatives and partnerships. This person manages the Associate Director of Partner Supports; community engagement staff; and communications staff, vendors and/or consultants.

Hours and Location

This is a newly created, full-time, benefits-eligible position. Relocation assistance and a hybrid schedule are possible. Anticipated start date is late Summer 2022; flexible timing may be possible for the right candidate. This role is based out of our main offices in Tulsa, OK.

To work in person, all team members must follow the organizations COVID safety precautions, which currently includes being fully vaccinated and wearing masks in all common spaces. Job Description

Internal Team Development and Planning

  • Lead on internal team development, including designing and facilitating or tapping others to facilitate Look Back/Look Forward meetings and Leadership Team meetings.
  • Liaise with DEI consultants and integrate DEI into all aspects of the team’s internal development
  • Support Managing Director in designing Executive Team meetings and ensuring that Leadership Team meeting agendas cascade well in relation to Executive Team conversations.
  • Collaborate with others on the team who will support your and other team members’ work.
  • Lead the strategic planning processes and reporting coordination the team does 

Development of Partners

Advisory Committee and Community Leader Development

  • Lead strategy development, planning and facilitation of the Advisory Committee.
  • Manage grants involving community organizing cohorts.

Partner Network

  • Hire and manage the Associate Director of Partner Supports, who will 1) create a partner support strategy and develop and provide management, DEI, and other supports available to all partners, New Partner Onboarding Sessions, program leader calls, and network convenings; and 2) support directors who lead tailored partner support efforts, as needed.
  • Coordinate with team members who provide tailored supports to partners.

Communications

  • Manage communications staff, vendors, and/or consultants, and drive the creation of a communications strategy.
  • Support the Managing Director on external engagement with media, other communities with place-based initiatives and other external audiences and on internal communications
  • Utilize communications systems that support organization's work including Salesforce integration, ongoing contact management, partner resource libraries, etc.

Team-wide Responsibilities

  • Participate in team activities to support team learning and development, including team meetings and DEI trainings.
  • Participate in activities to gain exposure to various aspects of organization, and receive coaching and professional development from your manager and/or others.
  • Contribute to projects in other ways, as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Pursuing and/or completed a master’s degree is preferred
  • At least 5-10 years of professional experience with cross-organizational collaboration; program development, support and/or execution; and/or relevant work experience
  • Previous experience working in or with nonprofits and/or organizations focused on early childhood, human services or a related field preferred

Proficiencies and Personal Characteristics

  • Experience setting, executing and communicating an inspiring vision involving diverse stakeholders with a combination of decision-making and advisory roles
  • Experience taking initiative, managing and supporting others and achieving results in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Bring a solutions-oriented, strengths-based approach while applying a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) lens—with a particular emphasis on racial equity—to all aspects of the work
  • Ability to work independently in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Zoom, Adobe Pro, Mailchimp (or similar marketing/campaign software) and other platforms and with Salesforce or similar Client Relationship Manager (CRM) preferred
  • Commitment to tackling ambitious initiatives to expand opportunities for children and families
