Job Description:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating daily activities assigned to the Manager’s team.  The Manager may be leading new product development, sustaining, or innovation focused teams. 

Specifically, the Engineering Manager will develop overall concepts for new products and solve technical problems.  He/she will be a champion of the new product development process and insures that the project objectives of product specifications, cost and schedule are clearly defined.  He/she will lead the process of achieving these objectives. The Engineering Manager will supervise, coach, and guide 4-5 direct reports, insuring that all project, function, and organization goals are met on time, on scope, and on cost.   Additionally, he/she will work closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality and Sales departments to achieve shared goals.  Less than 10% travel.

Management, Vision and Strategy
• Supervises, motivates, and directs the daily activities of a team of engineers, designers, and draftspersons in order to complete tasks, meet performance goals and objectives
• Provides performance management activities to include individual and team coaching, performance reviews, PCN’s, conflict resolution, training, and individual/team development as required
• Optimizes resource utilization within team in order to complete tasks/projects on time, in scope, and with little/no rework
• Leads Design Reviews, FMEA, DFMA, and other engineering activities
• Insures compliance to MPP Engineering Practices, PDP, and other MPP processes
• Responsible for employees understanding their role within the Company and how it relates to the Company mission
• Drives company culture and focuses on fact-based management practices to include team building with in department and across departments
• As assigned, contributes to and manages the engineering budget

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Ag engineering or equivalent; advanced degree a plus.
• 10+ years of relevant experience

Experience and Skills:

• Experience in engineering machine elements, bearings, and shafts
• Experience in designing castings, forgings, 
• Experience in engineering clutches, brakes, 
• Experience in hydraulic systems, components, and working knowledge of electro-hydraulics
• Working knowledge and experience with GD&T, tight tolerance parts
• Skilled at management of direct reports, including managing to goals, results, and key objectives
• Skilled at coaching and development of direct reports
• Skilled at communicating complex technical topics to a variety of audiences utilizing a variety of methods
• Experience in gated new product development (NPD) processes, including leading NPD core team activities
• Proficient in utilizing 3-d cad, gear analysis software
Considered a plus:
• Engineering experience developing gears, gear box, shafts, and other transmission components
• Experience in engineering powdered metal products
• Experience with fabrications, sheetmetal design
• Proficient in FEA, utilizing various analysis softwares
• Proficient in Kissoft Gear Analysis or other software
• Proficient in Soldiworks
