Position Information Position Title Communications Lead Job Description The Communications Lead reports directly to the Director of TU Security and will be responsible for the operation of the Security Department’s Communications Center.Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
- Complete the operational duties of the Security Dispatcher on a regular and relief basis.
- Provide direct supervision of Communication Center Dispatchers.
- Inform the Director and Assistant Director of any unusual situations or circumstances that come to their attention.
- Train department employees in the operations of the department’s Communication Center and ensure they comply with these procedures.
- Review payroll hours for Communication Center Dispatchers.
- Schedule dispatchers to ensure adequate coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Review Communication Center Dispatcher’s daily work ensuring that it is complete and free of errors.
- Maintain shift communication logs.
- Ensure that Communication Center Dispatchers conduct themselves in a professional demeanor that reflects favorably upon the Department and University.
- Issue and enforce work orders and directives in conjunction with the daily operation of the Communications Center.
- Evaluate the performance of Communication Center Dispatchers and complete performance evaluations of each team member.
- Provide remedial and up-dated training for current Communication Center Dispatchers.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Department policies and dispatching procedures.
- Interpret policies, procedures and laws and apply them to campus activities and situations.
- Keep abreast of all up-coming events scheduled for the campus.
- Conduct periodic inspections of assigned equipment to ensure they are following Department policy and free of abuse and neglect.
- Conduct periodic inspections to ensure that all equipment and property assigned to the Communication Center is working properly and is maintained in a clean and presentable condition.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director or Director of TU Security.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid OK State Driver’s License
- Successfully complete a 10-panel drug screening;
- Previous Radio Communication Experience within a Law Enforcement or Emergency Services organization
- Documented work experience within a service-oriented organization
- 3 to 5 years supervisory experience in a Dispatch/PBX setting
- Familiar with TU Security Communication Center operations
